Dr.
David Roisum of Finishing Technologies is a well-known authority
on web handling and converting. He has authored several
books including the newly published Winding: Machines, Mechanics
and Measurements, as well as more than 100 papers and articles
such as his monthly Web Works column in Converting magazine.
His background includes a variety of web manufacturing and
converting experiences: machine designer and research manager
for winders at Beloit Corp.; pilot lab setup at the Web
Handling Research Center; internal converting consultant
to all business units at Kimberly-Clark. Now as an independent
consultant, he helps troubleshoot problems in the paper,
film, foil, nonwoven, and textile industries. He has visited
nearly 1,000 plants during his 25-year career.

Description:
Web Handling and Converting focuses on the essentials that
are required to understand most web manufacturing as well
as converting machines such as coaters, laminators, printers,
winders and so on. These must-know topics include rollers,
controls, nips, spreading, slitting, wrinkling and winding.
This course explains the fundamental physics behind web
machinery operation to provide guidance on how to troubleshoot
real problems using a range of measurement and analysis
tools.
