![]() Vijay Gupta of Sicpa India shares a smile with Rakesh Shah of Windmoller and Holscher A core group comprising major players has been formed to provide the industry viewpoint and inputs for organising the India Converting Show and India Flexo Show 2003. The first meeting of the group was held at the India Habitat centre in New Delhi on the 27th January and was hosted by Sicpa India Ltd. The Chill, the untimely drizzle and the traffic rush hours notwithstanding, the meet took off to a fine start with the presence of the representatives of E I Dupont India Ltd., Flexo (India) Graphics Pvt. Ltd., Glaxo Smithkline Consumer Healthcare Ltd., Hitkari Industries Ltd., Hologram Manufacturers Association of India (HoMAI), Jubilant Organosys Ltd., Natraj Industries, Packaging Solutions Corpn., Triveni Polymers (P) Ltd., Weldon Celloplast Ltd., Windmoller and Holscher India Ltd. The meeting was chaired by Mr. P V Narayanan, Director of SIES School of Packaging. ``The idea of the core group is a continuation of the successful collaboration of the industry, Trade associations and the organisers at the India Label Show as we try to follow the blue print of that successful event in these twin shows,`` said Anil Arora on behalf of Print- Packaging.com, the organisers of the twin shows. The meeting deliberated at length on the content and theme of the proposed International conference to be held along with the exhibition. What emerged was an outline of the three day conference which would focus on the technological developments in flexible packaging, paperboard cartons and flexography on three separate days. One entire session would also be devoted to techno commercial aspects and related issues such as cost optmisation, Good business practices, impact of E U regulations, WTO agreements and the growing importance of imports and exports in the globalised environs. It was also decided to have roadshows with technical seminars and catalogue shows in various cities as a means of promoting the exhibition and conference. The members of the group were all enthused about the show and reiterated their commitment to the endeavour. ``As a leader in wide web flexography, we would like to support this focused event about package printing and converting where there is an accent on flexo,`` said Mr. Rakesh Shah, Managing Director of Windmoller and Holscher India Ltd. The next meeting of the core group has been fixed for 24th February at New Delhi.
