Info Package 2003, seemed the most suitable name for a conference dedicated to package printing and converting. The core group comprising of the major players christened the conference and gave in the industry inputs on the contents. The conference is the most important segment of the forthcoming September events – India Converting Show 2003 and India Flexo Show 2003 and will be held on the 6th to 8th September 2003. The second meeting of the core group was held at the India Habitat Center in New Delhi on the 24th of February evening. The meeting was attended by the representatives of Flexo (I) Graphics Pvt. Ltd., Food and Pharma Specialties, Glaxo Smithkline Consumer Health Care Ltd., Hologram Manufacturers Association of India (HoMAI), International Print-o-Pac, Indian printer and Publisher, Khemka Containers Ltd., Paharpur Industries Limited, Packaging Solution Group, The Paper Products Limited and Weldon Celloplast Limited. The meeting was chaired by Mr. P V Narayanan, Director, SIES School of Packaging. The popular subjects of concern raised in the conference were cost optimizing techniques, increase productivity, reduced downtime, global trends, technology choices and upgradation, new processes and market needs in order to help manufactures to sustain and rise in today`s competitive scenario. ``Especially when raw material costs rise, the manufacturer is cornered. With limited inputs he must find a way to meet the output demands. He wants cost optimizing tips. He needs the precious technology, which will help him do the best. Let`s aim each of our topics with cost effective measures for the producers unlike the other run-of-the-mill conference,`` asserted N Swami, Paharpur Industries. The need of covering IT in packaging and environmental issues was also highlighted. ``Flexo is becoming the preferred medium for package printing the world over and is making rapid strides in India. There is a tremendous interest in the industry and the separate show for Flexo is to provide a platform for all those interested in this technology to come together. The conference will, therefore, have a special focus on Flexo and the subject will be intertwined in all the deliberations at the conference``, said Anil Arora on behalf of the organisers. The schedule of the road shows was also finalised in the meeting. The next core meeting is scheduled for 22nd of March.
