Company opens state of the art manufacturing facility in Goa

Bosch Packaging Technology, inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in Verna Industrial Estate, Goa. The new facility with 2600 sq. mts. will produce and assemble packaging technology equipment for requirements such as candy wrapping, solid food and biscuit packaging, packing vials, ampoules and syringes. The facility was inaugurated by K.K. Viswanathan, Joint Managing Director, Motor Industries Company.

For MICO Bosch, which is a market leader with a long presence in the automotive components market in India, their packaging division offers a great opportunity for growth in this exciting market. “Bosch’s expertise in Packaging Technology coupled with MICO’s local competence in customer relations and networking, would make this project a grand success,” said Vishwanathan.

“We are delighted to be in Goa. We have ambitious plans and this new facility strengthens our commitment to offering customers in India world class technology and equipment in packaging and processing. The Bosch brand is synonymous with quality, technology and innovation which are reflected in the tailor-made solutions that we offer our customers across the globe,” said Friedbert Klefenz, President, Bosch Packaging Technology.

Bosch Packaging Technology has already sold over 400 packaging machines and process equipment in India to leading names in the pharmaceutical, confectionery and food processing industries and exported an additional 75 machines mainly to the food industry. Bosch’s decision to relocate its packaging division facility to Goa was based on several factors, most important being the excellent opportunity Goa provided for
the company to concentrate on its customer base in and around the state itself particularly those in the pharmaceutical industry.

The Goa facility will employ 80 associates and will have an initial installed capacity of 120 machines a year with plans to increase this to 240 machines in three years. “Bosch is proud on its responsibility to the community. We envision a sizable increase in the turnover of the local supplier base in Goa wherein every Bosch employee will contribute to a tenfold growth in manpower at the supplier and service provider end. In addition, the packaging technology we bring in will also benefit the local technical training institutes,” said Thomas Buehler, Business Head, Indian Operations, Bosch Packaging Technology.

The Packaging Division of Bosch has been in India since 1994. In 2006, the Division grew in India by 65% fuelled by its entry into the confectionery segment. A new focus of Bosch Packaging Technology in India is the pharmaceutical industry which will be served well by the plant’s relocation to Goa. Worldwide, the packaging operations of Bosch are highly globalised. Bosch’s associates develop and manufacture packaging technology in more than 27 locations worldwide.
