Beepasha kept her promised date with Bangalore on the 7th June where she traveled from Chennai after a successful road show two days earlier. Most of the nineteen participants who had exhibited at Chennai joined the daylong catalogue show at Hotel Atria. Converters, package printers and decorators had gathered in this garden city, this Saturday. The day saw a steady stream of visitors through the day that kept the catalogue show exhibitors busy and happy. Curious visitors here included package designers and students who wanted to know the state of affairs of their chosen field, the package production and converting industry. Local associations here welcomed BeePasha and team. Karnataka Offset Printer’s Association had most of its life members present here for the technical seminar in the evening. Anil Arora gave an insight to the forthcoming India Converting Show 2003 and India Flexo Show 2003 Arora explained the reasons why and how road shows ensure the success of the main event taking hints form the India Label Show 2002 - the company’s debut event which won them the appreciation of the industry not alone in India but from the across the world. “What we did to a label in India Label Show in 2002 is what we intend to do for a package in the coming converting show,” observed Arora while explaining why it was crucial to include and involve the entire value chain of the package printing and production industry for a successful converting show built around the core converters. R Parthasarathy, Vice President of KOPA appreciated the ‘focused approach’ of the event organisers and wished the best for the coming India Converting Show 2003 and India Flexo Show 2003 in New Delhi. Parthasarathy assured the association’s support for this package printing and production industry event in September. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Past President of Karnataka Corrugated Box Manufacturer’s Association represented the 400 converters in this part of the country. He congratulated the participants of the catalogue show and asked the organisers to give more such good news to the industry. The technical seminars in the evening heard Srinivasan Nachiappan from Esko Graphics giving and insight to one of the technical seminar topics from the Info Package 2003, which would be addressed by Antony Conway from Singapore. The topic was ‘Digital pre-press digital work flow for package printing’ along with introduction of digital pre-press for flexo in particular. He signed off asking the gathering to ‘make no mistakes as the future is digital!’ K R Narasinmhan, Director, W & G Company’s Darex division spoke about the growth and opportunities in packaging in India with a special emphasis on food packaging. He talked about the consumer market mantra as ‘small is beautiful’. The mantra which got the flexible packages win the hearts of millions with sachets – smaller and affordable packages. PV Narayanan, Director SIES School of Packaging, observed the evolving face of the packages playing newer roles in the changing lifestyles of the consumer population. Narayanan defined the role of the international conference – Info Package 2003 in such an evolving stage of the industry. The road show will now move to Ahemdabad in the first week of July.
