  `A good package saves more than it costs`
Krishnamurty and Mehta share their expertise at the Ahmedabad Road Show


After the successful southern sojourn- Beepasha, the chosen mascot for India Converting Show and India Flexo Show was in Ahmedabad on the 5th July. The entire city was in her thrall as nearly three hundred visitors trekked in to visit the daylong catalogue show and the evening presentations.

The exhibitors at the catalogue show included CH Java & Company, Knowell Corporation, Weldon Celloplast Ltd., Sicpa India Limited, Kunal Enterprises, Creed Engineers Pvt. Ltd, Sheth Graphics, Princessa Overseas Pvt. Ltd., Rational Business Corporation, Saiprographiq, Kurz (India) Ltd, Jiwanram Sheoduttrai, Jubilant Organosys Ltd. and S. Kumar Industries Limited. ``This is a great way to meet so many people in a city in a single day,`` said Amit Seth of Sheth Graphics about the show.

Dharmendra Pandya, President, Gujarat Corrugated Box Manufacturing Association and Yogesh Parekh, Vice President of the Ahmedabad Presss Owners Association were the special guests for the evening. Pandya spoke about the usefulness of such seminars, conferences and exhibitions to provide the much-needed inputs for the technical up gradation for the SSI units to survive and grow in the post liberalisation era. Parekh assured the support of his association and exhorted the converters and printers to visit the September show in large numbers.

Anil Arora presented a sneak preview of the exhibition. ``The converters will be the core of the exhibitors and around them will be the providers of machines, materials and services,`` he revealed.

A R Krishnamurty of Kodak Polychrome Graphics (P) Ltd., spoke about the digital workflow and how it was imperative first step for those looking to go CtP. He also spoke about a modular approach where a converter can successfully upgrade from the traditional workflow step by step and have the returns on investment finance each next step.

Rajiv Mehta, Executive Director, Core Emballage Limited, spoke on `Corrugation Techniques in the ontext of packaging industry`. He revealed the `paise` approach - where a package should `protect and preserve, add value, as well as inform` on the product, `sell` the product and at the same time be `environment friendly`. Talking on the multifaceted applications of the packet, he concluded that a good package saves more than it costs.
