BeePasha returns to the capital after a grueling sojourn across the country to take her chosen spot as the mascot for the upcoming September shows. She must look back with satisfaction as she met and wowed over two thousand visitors and delegates in seven cities. The place she will most fondly remember will probably be Indore- the penultimate stop where on the 31st of July she played host to a catalogue show and technical seminars that had the entire industry in thrall in this erstwhile state of the Holkar dynasty. The show was supported by the Indore based Indian Plast Forum, The Indore Master Printers Association and the Madhya Pradesh Corrugated Box Manufacturers Association. The members of these associations turned up in large numbers, as did the package buyers from this industrial town. The catalogue show- last in the series of the inter city show had fifteen exhibitors displaying and dispensing catalogues. These included Knowell Corporation, Weldon Celloplast Ltd., Sicpa India Limited, Kunal Enterprises, Creed Engineers Pvt. Ltd. Princessa Overseas Pvt. Ltd., Rational Business Corporation, Saiprographiq, Kurz (India) Pvt. Ltd, Ushma Engineers, Shipra Packaging Pvt. Ltd, Sun-Up India & Indian Plast Pack Forum. “Half an hour spent in this place opens our eyes to the fast developments that are taking place in every segment of our industry. If this is just a trailer, the September show will be a really useful event to visit,” said a visibly impressed Shailendra Pashiney, President of the Madya Pradesh Corrugated Box Manufacturers Association. Later, while addressing the delegates Pashiney called such events as essential “homework” that the converters must do to keep up with the latest in their trade. Subhash Chaturvedi, President, Indian Plast Pack Forum compared the event favourably to the best of events that he had witnessed in the city. Ibrahim Presswalah, President, Indore Master Printers Association extolled the members of the association to attend the September shows in a large number. Vijay Gupta, President, Sicpa (India) Limited, spoke about the best practices for print quality improvement in flexible packaging and carton conversion. He also talked about the latest developments in ink technology with specific focus on ‘modular inks’. His presentation was a synopsis of the two papers that are slated to be presented by Dr. C H Tan of Sicpa Asia Pacific at the Info Package 2003 Conference. Harveer Singh Sahni, M D, Weldon Celloplast, spoke about the technological improvements in the components of the self-adhesive label stock- face stocks, adhesives and liners and the role they play in the label converting process. He also touched on the die cutting and other technical issues of concern to a label printer. P V Narayanan, Director, SIES School of Packaging, briefed the assembled delegates about the subjects that would be covered in the Info Package 2003 conference. Anil Arora, Director, Print- Packaging.com gave a sneak preview of the displays in the India Converting Show and India Flexo Show in September. The vote of thanks was proposed by Deepak Gupta, Managing Director, Shipra Packaging. The next is the Grand Finale, the last of the inter-city stops at New Delhi on the August 8th…just a few weeks before the awaited event in September.
