AIMCAL Summer School Moves To India
Scheduled along with India Converting Show

The Association of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL) is collaborating with Print-Packaging.com Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, India, to organize the first AIMCAL Summer School in India. Scheduled to be held 20-21 August 2007 at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Centre in New Delhi, India, the event occurs immediately prior to the India Converting Show, 21-24 August, which will share the venue

`Scheduling AIMCAL Summer School India just prior to the India Converting Show allows attendees to take advantage of the two-day education event and attend the exhibition,” says Anil Arora, spokesperson for Print-Packaging.com., the portal for the Indian printing, packaging and signage industries and show organizer. The Print-Packaging.com portal serves as a one-stop resource for industry professionals and buyers in India as well as a window to the Indian industry for members of the international business community. In addition to working closely with event organizers and associations to promote events and disseminate industry information, Print-Packaging.com has built a website with richly detailed content for converters and packagers including news about products, companies and people; requests for quotes; a business-to-business forum; a used machinery mart; a directory of Indian companies involved in converting/packaging; computer-to-plate developments; publications; and careers and educational programs in university and technical schools.

Now in its eighth year, previous editions of the highly rated AIMCAL Summer School program have occurred in Europe and the United States. Like its predecessors AIMCAL Summer School India focuses on practical, usable solutions to converting challenges for engineers, operators, technicians, technical managers and sales people involved in coating, laminating and metallizing.

AIMCAL Summer School India is organized in three tracks: Web Handling & Converting, Vacuum Coating and Web Coating & Drying.

The two-day Web Handling & Converting course focuses on maximizing machine productivity, preventing problems like wrinkles and web breaks, and examining options for slitting, edge guiding, calendaring and winding.

The two-day Vacuum Coating course addresses substrate quality, atmospheric and vacuum web pre-treatment, web cleaning, winding, vacuum coating sources, deposition rates, uniformity and control of heat load.

The two-day Web Coating & Drying course discusses the coating solution preparation process, measurement of important solution properties, control of solution properties, problems associated with particular substrates, and causes and cures for coating defects.

Three members of AIMCAL’s Technical Advisory Panel will serve as instructors for AIMCAL Summer School India: Dilwyn Jones for Web Handling & Converting; Dr. Charles Bishop for Vacuum Coating; and Dr. Ed Cohen for Web Coating & Drying. Each is a seasoned instructor and well-regarded speaker as well as a leading consultant in the converting industry.

Program details and registration information is available on the AIMCAL website, www.aimcal.org/association/india2007/intro.html. The registration fee is US$500 per person.

As part of the collaborative venture with Print-Packaging.com, AIMCAL will exhibit at the India Converting Show. In addition, AIMCAL members, who wish to participate in the show, will benefit from special exhibitor pricing. The two organizations will co-promote both the show and AIMCAL Summer School India in both internal communications and external media. “This is an opportunity to begin building a long-term relationship between AIMCAL and Print-Packaging.com that will provide global opportunities for members of the converting industry in the eastern and western hemispheres,” says Craig Sheppard, executive director of AIMCAL.
