An important aspect of modern corrugator belts is that the belt should be capable of quickly absorbing and releasing the moisture from the glued boards so that the boards that come out are bone dry. This facilitates smudge free printing besides giving other benefits. Muehlen belts not only ensure this but also ensure that the flutes are not crushed or the flutes do not shift; while, at the same time, ensuring that the boards are held firmly against the hot plates enabling proper heating of the boards.

In addition, their AE type of belts have special armid fibres on both the edges of the belt so as to ensure longer belt life.
